Data Tape Degaussing
Degaussing is a process where magnetic media is exposed to a powerful, alternating magnetic field. Degaussing removes all previously written data and leaves the media in a magnetically randomized (blank) state. The Degaussing process does not destroy the media itself, only the recorded data.
Degaussing is a process that can be done off-site or it can be completed conveniently on-site at the customer's location. Customers sometimes prefer on-site degaussing because their confidential data never has to leave their location and they are able to oversee the entire process.
Degaussing is often combined with our Data Tape Shredding service.
